NYS Police Charge in Break-in

Police charge state trooper in drunken South Utica break-in

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The state trooper accused of breaking into a South Utica home was charged with the felony on Tuesday and plead not guilty. According to police, Jesse Miller turned himself in to the Utica Police Department Tuesday afternoon.

Miller was charged Tuesday with Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief, Assault.

Utica Police are investigating why the off-duty New York State trooper broke into the home in South Utica early Saturday morning. The incident left both the homeowner and the trooper injured.

Police believe Miller was extremely intoxicated at the time of the alleged incident. Both men were sent to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries following the break-in.

Miller was released on bail. An order of protection was granted for the homeowner.

Miller is also serving a suspension from the New York State Police, pending the outcome of this case.
